Dr. Anas Alkaddour
Senior Food Security and Livelihoods Technical Advisor
Dr. Anas Al Kaddour brings over 24 years of extensive experience in agriculture, food security, livelihoods, and early recovery sectors, humanitarian assistance programming and coordination, with a strong track record of bridging research and development initiatives and managing emergency operations. Dr. Anas currently works as Senior Food Security and Livelihoods Technical Advisor for Global Communities, a U.S. based non-profit non-governmental organization. Member of the strategic advisory group of FSL cluster, and global agriculture and program quality technical working groups under the global food security cluster, research fellow with CARA and South Wales University. Member of food security research team, University of Edinburgh, the UK. Prior to these roles, Dr. Anas worked as academic lecturer at Horticulture Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Aleppo University, Syria. Also, director of the contracts and station directorate at the National Potato Program and potato breeding expert at the General Organization for Seed Multiplication. Dr. Anas holds a Ph.D. in potato breeding and true potato seed (TPS) production, from Ain Shams University in Egypt, underscoring his strong academic foundation in the field. Conducted several research and studies in collaboration with some UK universities. In his role, Dr. Anas oversees the Syria Food Security and Livelihoods team and programs, managed the startup, implementation, and closeout of more than 30 programs using a multi-modalities approach, in response to Syria crisis, funded by several donors. For all programs, Dr. Anas develop all related policies, standard operating procedures, detailed workplan, procurement plan, and financial pipeline tool, to ensure all activities are tracked and delivered according to the plan and budget, as well as delivering technical training on a variety of food security topics to international and local non-governmental organizations and developed agriculture technical manuals in-line with implementing agriculture and livelihoods activities. Dr. Anas is not only a subject matter expert but is also proficient in middle east context facilitating effective communication and collaboration in diverse settings. Working mostly in fragile and conflict zones, has high level of interaction, both remote and in-person with field teams, innovative and solution oriented, quickly identify simple solutions to program implementation issues. Also has strong experience in other sectors from working on integrated programmes, such as WASH, Protection, and Shelter.
