Market assessments form an essential and integral part of an overall response analysis to inform humanitarian programme design. Findings from market assessments help with decisions about adequate transfers of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) and the appropriate transfer modality. That’s why it’s crucial for people working on CVA to be able to correctly assess local markets and to keep up with the latest developments and tools.

But that can be hard in this fast-evolving field. Even though a wealth of information exists, sourcing and understanding it can be tricky and time-consuming.

This webinar presented the latest developments to help you. We delved into defining the fundamentals and purpose of Multi-Sector Market Assessments and how they make a difference. Next, we took a closer look at the latest tools, including the updated Multi-sector market assessment guidance and toolkit by NRC and UNHCR.

The webinar was jointly hosted by the CALP Network, NRC, UNHCR, and The Markets in Crises Community of Practice.

The speakers were:

Abdoulaye Hamidou, Capacity Building Lead, the CALP Network

Lili Mohiddin, Regional Cash and Markets Adviser, NRC

Hanna Mattinen, Senior Cash-based Interventions Officer, UNHCR

Karri Byrne, Independent Consultant

Corrie Sissons, Technical Advisor – Cash and Markets, Catholic Relief Services
