CASH TRANSFER PROGRAM IN HEALTH CARE: Humanitarian Response to the Migrant Population of Tijuana, Baja California
In this report we summarize the execution of the first
Health Cash Transfer Program (CTP) implemented by
Save the Children Mexico and Spain; also, the first in the
Humanitarian Response area, to offer psychological care
to people in mobility situations. An additional innovation
of this program is that the responsibility for managing
the funds and executing payment transfers to health
providers were given to the shelters. This mechanism
simplified the processes and requisitions for girls, boys,
and adolescents to access health services. As a result, the
project had a high rate of ownership. Evidence of this was
that the beneficiary population, mainly women, identified
the need to incorporate gynecology, obstetrics, and
mental health services.
