2020 Cash and Voucher Programming (CVP): Roadmap and milestone achieved
In 2020, World Vision has implemented cash and voucher programming like never before – not least due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related social protection transfer scale-ups. From 2019 to 2020, we have seen a 28 % increase of our cash, voucher based programming, moving towards enabling affected communities and esp. children. These modalities enabled those most affected by disaster, conflict and pandemic shocks to have choice and not only be assisted to survive but to become more resilient economically through financial inclusion and thrive in the midst of ongoing crises. Over 61% of the cash, voucher assistance was delivered via e-cash, mobile money, e-vouchers, reflecting the shift towards further digital delivery mechanisms where appropriate, considering community preference, technology access and digital literacy and other feasibility aspects.
World Vision further strives towards its Grand Bargain commitment, having delivered approx. 39% of our humanitarian Disaster Management portfolio via cash and voucher, reaching over 6.4 Mio vulnerable people in 41 countries in 2020. We aim at increasing our reach (71% of most vulnerable people we assisted, lived in Fragile Contexts) to support 4 Mio vulnerable children by 2022, and enhance quality cash and voucher based programming through more MPCA, innovative tools, partnerships and adaptive programming, spanning across our humanitarian, recovery and development work.
