Yolette Etienne
Country Director for HAITI
Yolette has worked in the international development field for more than 25 years. Prior to joining ActionAid as the Haiti Country Director, she had a long journey with Oxfam Great Britain then Oxfam America operating in Haiti. She started her career in education, teaching in secondary, and professional school. She then moved to the development sector working with national grassroots, international NGOs and IFAD. Yolette has experience working with different actors from grassroots to civil society, government and international actors. In 2007, Queen Elizabeth II awarded Yolette the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for her services in development and humanitarian aid in Haiti. She is fluent in French, English, Spanish, and Creole and holds a BSc in management. In addition, she has a Master’s degree in International Affairs with FLACSO (Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales).
