Key Donors Publish ‘Common Donor Approach to Humanitarian Cash Programming’ – Read the statement in full here
Cash actors have been clear that coherent approaches to funding and supporting cash programming among donors are important for supporting better harmonized and more effective humanitarian action. Responding to this, humanitarian donors committed – under the Grand Bargain cash workstream – to work towards improved donor coordination in this area. In February 2018 a group of donors, co-hosted by UNHCR and WFP, visited Jordan and Lebanon to understand key challenges in cash programming and how donors could better support in addressing these. Based on findings from this visit and discussions under the cash workstream of the Good Humanitarian Donorship group, key donors have developed a Common Donor Approach to humanitarian cash programming. The Common Donor Approach sets out a shared vision and principles which will guide their support for cash programming. We are delighted to publish the final document, which represents a significant step towards stronger donor coordination.
