Sawsan has 12 years of experience working in the development & humanitarian sector focusing on youth empowerment programs for Europe aid funded project in the MENA region and responding to the Syrian Refugees and vulnerable populations’ needs in Jordan. Sawsan was leading the livelihood and cash programs in urban settings in Jordan for the International Rescue Committee targeting women and youth before joining ActionAid early 2021. Sawsan has experience in leading integrated protection and livelihood programs through the design and implementation with gender sensitive and transformative approaches. Sawsan joined technical teams in drafting contextualized cash SoPs including protection needs in the MENA region and lead project implementation for unconditional cash for GBV survivors or at risk of GBV and business grants. Most recently in ActionAid Sawsan is co-leading an internal ActionAid working group on Cash and Voucher Programming and have a specific interest in gender and inclusion themes, in line with ActionAid’s feminist approach as well as advocacy and policy efforts globally and nationally. Sawsan has a Master’s degree in desert environmental studies and is a proud mother of a 4-year-old child.
